Hurricane Harbor Closer to Making Waves at Six Flags Over Georgia

Enjoying a winter that did not include several feet of snow as plagued by the North, Six Flags Over Georgia has been moving along in constructing their all-new Hurricane Harbor water park.  While the preparations for any water park involve a lot of dirt moving, the Georgia park had to level out a great deal of land in order to place the gigantic wave pool that can be seen above.  Just recently concrete was poured for the base of the wave pool, signifying a major step in the construction progress.

Not that the other parts of the new park are being ignored - the two slide towers are carefully being pieced together in a staging area so that when the support towers are complete instillation will be quick and easy.  The brightly colored slides include a "first of a kind" combination of a wave and bowl slide, I think parts of which can be seen above.  A second three-slide tower will take up residence behind the wave pool.

James Reid-Anderson, President and CEO of Six Flags, visited the park and filmed the above video update on the progress.  He promises that this is just the first update of several planned to cover all that Hurricane Harbor will offer guests to Six Flags Over Georgia. The park has also released a time lapse video showing construction work from December until February - this also gives an idea of how much land moving went into creating the new expansion.
